Ionics renews
$5.6M Okla. reservoir deal
Boston Business Journal - November 7, 2002
Water-purification company Ionics Inc. said it
received a $5.6 million order from the Foss
Reservoir Master Conservancy District in Western
Oklahoma, a renewal of a relationship that began
in the early 1970s, the Watertown-based company
said.
About 30 years ago, Foss Reservoir chose Ionics
to build what was then the largest water
desalination plant in the United States. Since
then, the Foss Reservoir desalination plant has
been producing fresh drinking water from
brackish water sources on a daily basis for up
to 15,000 people in the surrounding communities
of Clinton, Cordell, Hobart and Bessie, Okla.
Under the new contract, Foss will update its
existing electrodialysis system with a new
system supplied by Ionics, which will increase
its water production from 3 million gallons per
day to 4.5 million gallons per day
"We are delighted to give Ionics a new
ground-breaking shovel every 30 years -- that is
a great track record of performance," said David
Berrong, president of Foss Reservoir Master
Conservancy District, in a statement. |
